Admission policy

Westgate pre & Primary school is dedicated to providing a conducive learning environment that fosters academic excellence, discipline, and holistic development. This Admission Policy outlines the criteria and procedures for admitting students at all levels of the school in line with the Ugandan education system.

 General Guidelines

​

  1. Equal Opportunity:
    Admission is open to all children regardless of race, religion, nationality, or gender, provided they meet the admission requirements and guidelines set by the school.

  2. Class Capacity: Admissions will be granted based on the availability of slots in each class to maintain manageable class sizes for effective learning.

  3. Age Requirements:

    • Nursery/Pre-primary: Children must be between 3–5 years old.

    • Primary: Children must be at least 6 years old for Primary One (P.1).

3. Admission Requirements

Parents/Guardians must provide the following documents for the admission process:

  • A completed and signed admission form (available at the school or on the website).

  • A copy of the child’s birth certificate.

  • Two recent passport-sized photographs of the child.

  • Previous school reports or transfer letter (if applicable).

  • Medical records, including immunization cards.

4. Admission Process

  1. Application Form:
    Admission forms can be collected from the school office or downloaded from the school website.

  2. Submission:
    All completed forms, along with the required documents, must be submitted to the admissions office before the deadline.

  3. Assessment and Interview:
    Applicants may be required to sit for an entrance exam and attend an interview to evaluate their academic abilities and suitability for the class applied for.

  4. Admission Decision:
    Admission is granted based on the applicant's performance, the availability of slots, and compliance with the school’s requirements.

  5. Confirmation:
    Admission is confirmed only after:

    • Payment of the registration and term fees.

    • Signing of the school's Code of Conduct by both the parent/guardian and the student.vide appropriate

  1. Mid-Year Admissions:
    Mid-year admissions are subject to the discretion of the school administration and the availability of slots.

  2. Disciplinary Transfers:
    Students transferring from other schools due to disciplinary reasons may require additional screening and commitment from parents/guardians.

6. Fees and Payment Policy

  • Fees are structured per term and must be paid before the beginning of the term.

  • A non-refundable registration fee is required upon admission.

​

7. Admission Appeals

Parents/Guardians who wish to appeal an admission decision can submit a written request to the Head Teacher, who will review the case and respond within seven working days.

​

8. Compliance

This policy aligns with the guidelines of the Ministry of Education and Sports in Uganda. The school reserves the right to amend the policy as necessary to meet changing regulations or school needs.
